Social Science

The Social Science Division of Yorkville High School, through its collective curriculum, intends to prepare our students to become informed and active citizens in American society. We emphasize our nation's successes, and failures, and to demonstrate to our students the need for positive participation in our democracy, as well as a global knowledge of our position in the world.

In addition to traditional Social Science offerings, the Social Science Division also houses YHS Business Courses, which  offer a wide variety of professional course selections in the area of Accounting, Business, and Marketing.  In addition, students interested in pursuing on-the-job work experience and get involved with Workplace Experience, which allows them to explore career options in different areas of business.Students, who are considering a career in business, should enroll in as many of these courses as their schedule permits.  Additionally, students who are undecided as to a career choice can take any of these courses to explore potential career options, improve their technology skills, and/or gain a vast understanding of different areas of business.

Most of these courses are electives in the Career and Technical Education area.  One course, Consumer Management, is a required course for graduation.
