Happy EARTH WEEK from the S.A.F.E. Club (Students Acting For the Environment)!
Today is FRIENDS OF THE EARTH DAY! Did you know that the very first Earth Day focused on engaging thousands of students to participate in a nation-wide “walk out” back in 1970?
The worldwide movement helped inspire groundbreaking laws including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Today, Earth Day has blossomed into a global day of action, with nearly 200 countries taking part every year! YOU can help be a “friend of the earth” by organizing a clean up of your yard, neighborhood, or school!
Thank you for your conservation efforts today! Tomorrow, we ask that you wear BLACK in support of our ENERGY Conservation Day. Remember…Together, WE can make a difference!

Attention all YHS students: Beginning Monday, April 13th, you will see a small change in our building procedures after the school day has concluded. In order to ensure all students are safe and that they are supervised by staff members, coaches, or sponsors, our campus monitors will be moving through the halls to ensure all students remaining in the building after 2:35pm are in a supervised area. If you are staying in the building to meet with a teacher, attend after-school detentions, or attend a club, sport, or activity, please ensure that you are moving immediately to the location of your meeting, practice, or event. Otherwise, we ask that you exit the building immediately. If you do need to stay to wait for transportation or for a meeting or practice to begin, please move to the Athletic Lobby at the conclusion of the school day. Unless supervised and with a staff member, no students will be allowed to remain in the academic portion of the building. Doors allowing access to these areas will be closed and locked beginning at 2:45pm each day. Thank you for your help in keeping our building safe!
Attention all students interested in earning service hours this spring: the SAFE Club will be holding a training program this Friday 4/17 during flex block for all students who are interested in learning how to recycle. Please join our student leaders in Mrs. Jones's room C219 At the main campus this Friday 4/17 during flex block to take advantage of this opportunity to earn service hours!

Each day will be a different spirit day and we encourage you to wear your spirit gear to celebrate. We will also have various activities you can participate in to celebrate earth week. We will be starting the week with Water Conservation Day and encourage wearing BLUE and bringing a reusable water bottle to school.
